Jane Leeves is an English actress. Leeves portrays Daphne Moon on NBC series Frasier.
Career[]
Leeves was born in Essex, and gets some criticism (in Britain) for her allegedly Mancunian accent as Daphne, although given that the rest of her family essentially cover most of the British Isles in their manner of speech, this is perhaps not surprising. Leeves played Holly, the ship's computer, in the American remake of Red Dwarf, a project which never made it past the pilot stage. Leeves recently portrayed Rejoyla "Joy" Scroggs in Hot in Cleveland and Audrey Cohen in Murphy Brown.
During Frasier, she was pregnant twice; first time during Season 8. It was explained on the show with Daphne having gained weight from overeating. As Leeves was on maternity leave from a few episodes, it was explained with Daphne being at a weight spa. In It Takes Two To Tangle, Niles tells Roz that Daphne has "already lost 9 pounds and 12 ounces" - the real-life birth weight of Leeves' daughter, Isabella Catherine Coben (born January 9, 2001). Her second pregnancy during Season 11 was incorporated into the storyline, with Niles and Daphne finding out she's pregnant at the end of No Sex Please, We're Skittish. Leeves' real-life son Finn William Leeves Coben was born on December 19, 2003, the last episode filmed prior to his birth was The Ann Who Came to Dinner. Following that, Leeves wore a fake stomach until the end of the season, where Daphne gives birth.
