She's The Boss is the premiere of Season 3 of Frasier.
Synopsis
OSCAR-WINNER MERCEDES RUEHL GUEST-STARS – Frasier holds his ground when the new station manager, Kate Costas (Oscar and Tony winner Mercedes Ruehl), orders him to make changes in the show which she could use for promotion purposes. As a result, Frasier loses a lot of sleep – and almost his mind – when he and Roz are relegated to working the graveyard shift. Trivia
- Despite Kate's mocking address of Frasier as "Captain Midnight," his new slot is actually 2AM - 5AM, a complete inverse of his normal slot. This is confirmed when Frasier tells Martin that he has to be back at the station by 2AM.
- Presumably, Bonnie Weems' car show is still on at midnight, where Gil had her banished to, as was mentioned in Frasier Crane's Day Off.
- There are a number celebrity callers in this episode. Matthew Broderick plays Mark, a clerk in an all-night convenience store whose "camera self" is doing things Mark doesn't approve of. Carrie Fisher is Phyllis, who has incurable insomnia. Tom Hulce (Keith) disagrees with the last two callers and says that his job is very important before leaving to go powder jelly donuts, while Teri Garr, as Nancy, calls in proclaiming she's naked and that she'd prefer to be the spanker.
- Frasier paraphrases George Bernard Shaw as saying "in this world there are only two tragedies. One is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it." Kate Costas says this quote is by Oscar Wilde. She is correct.
- Frasier now has short hair.
Notes and references
- ↑ First appearance of Kate Costas. She replaces Tom Duran as KACL station manager and holds the position until It's Hard To Say Goodbye If You Won't Leave.
- ↑ Last appearance of Father Mike, who is fired early in the episode due to low ratings. However, the poster for his show is still on the wall outside the studio and remains so in subsequent episodes.
