Trivia[]
- Niles makes a reference to the heart condition that required surgery in Season 10.
- This episode first aired on Kelsey Grammer's 40th birthday.
- Sam confesses to Frasier that no ballplayer comes to Seattle because of the Mariners - a reference to how poorly they have played throughout their history to that point. This episode aired in February 1995 and the Mariners would go on to clinch the franchise's first division title later that year.
- CONTINUITY
- When Sam comes to Frasier's apartment, Frasier helps him ward off a phone call from a woman named Sheila, via an impromptu game of charades between the two. This is a callback to the very first scene between Sam and Diane on Cheers, in which Diane helps ward off a call for Sam from a woman named Vicki. The only slight difference is the excuse used as to why Sam can't come to the phone: in Cheers, Diane tells Vicki that Sam had to go to mime class while Frasier tells Sheila that Sam already left in this episode.
- In this episode, Sam recalls that Frasier had told him that his dad was a dead research scientist (which had happened in an episode of Cheers years earlier). This inconsistency is explained by Frasier saying that he and Martin had a fight before Frasier made that statement to Sam.
- No reason is given for Frasier never mentioning Niles at Cheers.
- This episode reveals what became of the Cheers gang. The plumber got rich and dumped Rebecca. She's back at the bar. Norm is still at the bar (no surprise there). Woody and Kelly had a smart baby boy. Cliff doesn't hang around the bar much, because he read an article about flesh-eating bacteria and hasn't left his mother's house since. However, it is likely Cliff gets over this phobia as the years go by as Frasier attends his retirement party in Cheerful Goodbyes, during which Cliff is obviously present.
- Sam tells Frasier that when the preacher said "Will you take this woman to be your wife?", Sam said "Who, me?" before running down the aisle. This is most likely a callback to the season 4 premiere of Cheers when Frasier told Sam that Diane said the same thing at their wedding.
