Synopsis[]
FRASIER SPIES HIS MENTOR IN COMPROMISING POSITION; RENÉ AUBERJONOIS GUEST-STARS -- Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) seeks the sage advice of his professorial mentor (guest star Rene Auberjonois, "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine") about his issues with his father but instead sees his courtly guru in a peculiar new light when he catches him romantically red-handed with an old friend. Meanwhile, Niles (David Hyde Pierce) pooh-poohs Daphne's (Jane Leeves) soothsayer warnings so he agrees to meet with her psychic evaluator (guest star Fisher Stevens, "Early Edition") to test her skills. Later, Roz (Peri Gilpin) shares a saucy secret with an intrigued Frasier.

- This isn't the first time a mentor of Frasier's slept with a friend of his. In Cheers, his friend and mentor Bennett Ludlow slept with Carla Tortelli, resulting in her getting pregnant with Ludlow's child.
- In the open, Niles and Daphne return home from a kickboxing session. It's a real-life hobby of David Hyde Pierce's as well.
- The title refers to the film The Wizard of Oz (1939)
- Dr Sheldon Morey says he uses scientific methods to detect the paranormal. Given that paranormal activity is by definition outside the realms of the natural world it would be impossible to detect scientifically. The best case scenario would be to determine that a person has in the past been more likely to predict future events than average, but it would still be chance rather than anything scientific.
