Frasier Wiki

Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs is the theme song to Frasier. It was sung at the end of each episode performed by Kelsey Grammer. It was also used as the theme song for the first 20 episodes of Season 1 of the YouTube cooking show Binging with Babish, by only using the opening lines.

Hey baby, I hear the blues a-callin',
Tossed salad and scrambled eggs
Oh My
Mercy (alt: Quite stylish.)
And maybe I seem a bit confused,
Yeah maybe, but I got you pegged!
Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha!
But I don't know what to do with those tossed salads and scrambled eggs.
They're callin' again.
(Scrambled eggs all over my face. What is a boy to do.)

  • The 1000th Show marked the only time that the song was performed live during the ending credits.
  • Sweet Dreams marked the only instance in which the song was not performed by Kelsey Grammer. Instead, it was performed in Spanish by Kenny O'Brien.
  • The song is followed by one alternate ending verse for each episode that is listed below.

They're callin' again.
Good night, Seattle, we love you.
Good night.
Frasier has left the building.
Thank You!
Happy holidays, everybody (used for Christmas themed episodes)
Goodnight, everybody.
See you next year, we love ya. (only used in My Coffee With Niles)

According to show producers, the lyrics were chosen to symbolically represent what Frasier does for a living without referencing it directly. “Tossed salads“ and “scrambled eggs” are foods that are mixed up, just like Frasier’s mixed up callers, who sometimes have the blues. Frasier does come across as “confused” at times, but he does genuinely help his callers through his insights, hence he has them “pegged”. But, they do keep calling with new problems.
